Sport Fishing Yachts
Here at MMG we have a thing for Sport-fishing yachts. They offer many amenities geared towards, you guessed it; fishing. These yachts share many aspects with the Luxury Motor Yachts in the sense that they both provide luxurious interiors, staterooms, heads, diesel power, and many more similarities. The main characteristics that set them apart are the huge open cockpit, sporty performance, proud bow with a huge flare and a fly bridge where you operate the vessel from. Many sport-fishing yachts come equipped with a tower for the captain to have a higher and therefore better view of the surroundings. At MMG we are greatly involved in the sport-fishing community in South Florida. We know what works and what doesn’t, we are here to assist you in making the right decision.
Sport-fishing yachts currently range in size from about 40 feet to 100 feet, depending on what amenities you need as an owner, what the main purpose of the yacht will be and also the budget you have for the investment. One of the main reasons why the design of these vessels has been kept generally intact over the years is the fact that they are known to be one of the best sea-keeping styles of yachts on the water. Usually paired with massive diesel engines, these yachts will usually have a cruising speed of about 30knots! As with Motor Yachts, these Sport Fishing Yachts can be purchased either from a production brand such as Viking, Hatteras, Bertram or could be built completely custom to your desires by one of many great American yards such as: Merritt Boatworks, Bayliss, Spencer, Jim Smith, Winter Custom Yachts just to name a few. These boats are usually build using the cold-molded approach instead of the production friendly regular mold approach.
